This 1915 DWM Imperial Luger Includes the matching magazine and holster. A 1914 P.08 model Luger dated to 1915, wears the standard 4in (100mm) barrel and is chambered in 9mm. DWM (Deutsche Waffen und Munitionsfabriken) was one of the many notable Luger manufactures from 1900–1943. In addition to the holster matched to the pistol, this Luger kit retains the proofed tool and 2 magazines. 1 of the 2 included magazines is a serial number match.

1915 DWM Luger w/ Matching Holster and Magazine

Finished in blue, this Luger is in excellent condition throughout with handling marks only associated to light use and cycling. Minimal areas of finish thinning can be seen around the high edges of the pistol, and some holster wear noted near the muzzle. The small parts show off bright and retain their vibrant straw color. Its leading edges retain their sharp edges and the checkering throughout shows sharp in each respective area.

1915 DWM Luger

The 1915 Lugers custom inscription reads “Reiffenberg Hannover” and sits right above the left side grip panel. The rest of the markings on the pistol are factory proofs, or serial number marks. The underside of the barrel and frame is marked with the full serial number “2518” with the suffix “b” meaning it is an early production considering the vast number of Lugers manufactured. “8,82” is marked on the on the barrel’s underside below the serial and suffix. “DWM” is marked on the top toggle link, and “1915” marked on the top in front of the barrel.

1915 DWM

This lugers wear the last two digits of the serial number throughout various areas of the pistol both externally and internally. Dissembled this Luger shows “18” throughout those areas and on the small parts and inside faces of the grips. In addition to the serial number matching throughout it wears the military proofs on the right side, and on the barrel.

1915 DWM Luger Internals

The inside of the holster may read the following “Dr. jur. Rieffenberg Hannover Hohenzollernstraße 42” & “Schwere Reserve Batterie Regiment 17”. The seller states the pistol may have belonged to a German field surgeon or German Lawyer, assumed by the title “Dr. Jur.” However the German agencies he contacted have confirmed most records from the time have been destroyed and the above would be speculation and more research would be required to confirm either.  The inscription seems to have made by hand, and the ink in the holster by fountain pen.

1915 DWM Luger Holster

The walnut grips are in excellent condition and show of sharp checkering throughout.

parabellum

The internals of the pistol show a well-maintained pistol considering the age. The magazines are steel sleeves with original wood bottoms, one of the two is marked “2518” matching the pistol.

1915 DWM Luger w/ Matching Holster and Magazine

Overall this 1915 dated DWM Luger would be an excellent addition to any WWI small arms collection.
